Hello and Welcome!

I'm Annie Hessler, a graduating senior at Colorado State University, pursuing a degree in journalism with a minor in Global Environmental Sustainability. I'm excited to present my portfolio, reflecting my academic journey and showcasing my commitment to various fields. Throughout my university career, I have explored the intersection of journalism, primarily focusing on environmental sustainability, humanitarianism, and science communication.

I've gained experience across various mediums, such as freelance work, reporting, film, and photography, honing my skills as a great listener and communicator, particularly in creative projects. As you navigate through my portfolio, you'll discover pieces representing my academic endeavors and research, illuminating the topics that resonate deeply with me.

In addition to my academic pursuits, my community engagement extends to conservation work in Fort Collins, Colorado, where I serve as the adopter for Gateway Natural Area and hold the position of Conservation and Social Chair for Colorado State University's Fly Fishing Club. Volunteering with organizations like On the Mend as a river guide and raising funds for Casting for Recovery further reflects my commitment to community service.

Looking ahead, I will serve as a Communications/Archives Intern at the Congressional Summer Assembly in Frankfort, Michigan, while also working as a Communications and Research Specialist at Freshwater Wellness in Frankfort during the summer and early fall of 2024. Additionally, I am currently in the waiting period of my Peace Corps application process, aiming to serve for two years in alignment with my aspirations to work within the fields of humanitarianism and education.
